Biography

I am currently an Associate Professor and a Ph.D. Supervisor at the Department of Aerospace Information Engineering, Beihang University.
I obtained the Ph.D. degree in optical engineering from Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, CAS, in 2006. From 2006 to 2008, I was at Beihang University for postdoctoral research. From 2014 to 2015, I was working at the Department of Computer Science, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, USA, as a Visiting Scholar. My research interests include saliency detection, target detection and recognition, image understanding, and their application in remote sensing images. I serve as a Standing Member for the Executive Council of Beijing Society of Image and Graphics. I lead the AIRVIC Lab.

I received fundation from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the “十一五” and “十二五” Pre-research Project, the National 863 Project, the National 973 sub-project, the Air Force Pre-research Project, the National Key Research and Development Project, etc. We have also finished a number of research projects on automatic object detection and recognition of remote sensing images cooperated with space institutes and enterprises. Our achievements have been successfully applied to the lunar rover Yutu, high-resolution earth observation and military application.


Recruitment

AIRVIC Laboratory Abstract: Since 2008, Dr. Zhao has been dedicated to exploring key techniques for detecting and recognizing typical targets in complex backgrounds. Her research interests include pattern recognition, machine intelligence, computer vision, remote sensing image processing, space object detection, and model compression. The specific research directions of the laboratory are as follows:

  1. Automatic detection and recognition of objects in high-resolution remote sensing images.
  2. Investigation of visual salience theory and its application in remote sensing.
  3. Advancement of space-based image information processing technologies.
  4. Development and utilization of high-speed embedded systems for real-time image processing in space-based applications.
